Thomas V fills in for Mrs. McLean, leading Pre-AP English students through a homework check!

Join us tonight from 6-7 pm @ KMHS Room 443!

Before Thanksgiving break, all HS^2 students and staff participated in a themed Kahoot where the winners were able to choose one of the student representatives to pie in the face!

Join us this week for our SECOND Parent Information night of the year! These meetings are for students and families who are interested in attending HS^2 for the 2026-2027 school year. Please spread the word if you know anyone who is interested in learning more about our school.

AP Physics students applied their knowledge of the Conservation of Energy recently to solve for the coefficient of friction between a paper box/matchcar system and the floor.

HS^2 Chemistry students made lava lamps while looking at intermolecular forces!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing break!
Before break began, the Nutrition class celebrated Friendsgiving while learning about nutritional values of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner!

The early enrollment application window for the 2026-27 school year IS OPEN! The window will remain open until January 16, 2026 at noon.

HS^2 students are helping out with the KM Explore Elementary Science Fair!
KM Explore Pioneers (4th and 5th Graders) traveled to the High School Campus where they tried out different HS^2 student-led experiments (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) to jumpstart ideas for their own individual or collaborative science fair projects and also met with their High School mentors.
Moving forward, the KM Explore and HS^2 students will have mentoring sessions to work on their projects and prepare for the science fair presentations! We cannot wait to see what the students come up with!

The HS^2 AP Physics class recently got into the wintery spirit by decorating the classroom windows with hand made snowflakes!
While they had fun making the intricate snowflakes and making a mess in Mrs. Basthemer's classroom, they also spent time determining the Conservation of Energy transformation and calculating the amount of force done by air friction on the snowflake - Earth system!

Locards exchange principle states that evidence will transfer between people and the objects (or other people) they come in contact with. Recently, the HS^2 Forensic science students wore a shirt for a day and kept a log of what they did all day. In class, students traded shirts and spent time collecting trace evidence to determine the activities of the owner.

Mr. Van Dyke's advisory recently completed their Community Day activity by helping out at Retzer Nature Center! The advisory spent time cleaning up and mulching trials!

Mrs. Kopidlansky's advisory headed to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin this week for their Community Day activity! Over 2,800 lbs of food was packed into 220 mobile packs for the forest home neighborhood. Additionally, assorted boxes of snacks were packed for local food pantries!

More pictures from our Fire and Rescue Workshop that took place last week!

The Aerospace Jam is a competition for high school teams across Wisconsin to use drones on a NASA Mars -inspired simulated mission. The program is a partnership between Carroll University, NASA, Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium and the Milwaukee Bucks.
The three HS^2 teams that are competing will be provided with a drone and sensor kit from Carroll to design and build a data-acquiring platform for a “landing” on Mars. Teams will have all year to work on their device and work on preparing for the many challenges that will be presented on the day-long competition on April 10, 2026.

Last week, the HS^2 AP Environmental Science students took soil samples from their homes! These soil samples were taken so the students could perform a soil test in a jar! After the soil is prepped in their jars, the students will leave the sample to sit for a full week before analyzing the results of the test.
When they come back to the jars, students will measure the sand, silt, and clay percentages and use a soil texture triangle to identify the texture of their soil sample. Students will then use an online mapping database to find the exact location and soil type that has been recorded previously to see how closely they match up!

Pre-AP kids competed in an All Quiet on the Western Front Jeopardy game on IXL this morning! Congrats to the girls for coming away with the win!

Mrs. McLean got second place on the IXL leaderboard at the conference! 144 questions!

Mrs. McLean is learning a ton about our new supplemental learning program at IXL Live in Madison today!

Yesterday, 16 HS^2 students started the first Fire and Rescue Workshop of the school year!
This is an outreach opportunity with our partner Lake Country Fire and Rescue (LCFR). In this experience, students spend three hours for three school days in order to get a taste of what happens at the Fire House as well as learning valuable skills such as: gaining CPR certification, donning firefighting gear, forcible entry, EMS skills, and tackling the obstacle course.
